mm cant remember now anyway they always have these quotes below and i saw one that really set me thinking. Anyways it went something like

Each stimuli arriving at another synapse may render the synapse more sensitive to a weaker
stimuli. This occurs at some synapses.
What this basically means is that if a stimuli is too small for us to feel it the first time, subsequent stimuli of the same frequency will have a higher chance of us feeling it as we are more "sensitized"
e.g. When someone calls your name you
don't hear it but the next time they do you actually hear it, something like that.
I've found another dumb analogy i always come up with ! Works for me anyways. When you
don't study for mid years you feel guilty see ? like me now however the stimuli is not great enough to cause a reaction. However as the days creep nearer you feel more and more guilty (sensitizing). And finally one day the stimuli is finally large enough to set you studying !!! Applies to lazy dudes like me only.
